Gender: Female Age: 5 - 6 years Status: Adopted

From Emmy Lou’s foster parents:

Emmy Lou is a 5 to 6 year old, small 22 pound beagle girl that was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter. She was not well cared for and we think she was probably an outside dog her whole life.We believe she was a hunting dog as she has a tattoo in each ear. More than likely she stopped hunting and was of no good to her owner.

But despite her rough start to life she is happy and very sweet. She’s very affectionate and loves to be petted and to snuggle close to us. She enjoys living inside although it seems to be an adjustment for her. When we first got her she was very scared of everything including us. But the longer we have her the less frightened she seems to be.She doesn’t like loud noises. But she is fascinated with everything inside and it’s fun to watch her discover new things. She looks at the TV with much curiosity.

She loves to run, run, run in our fenced backyard. She is fast and it looks like she is smiling when she’s running. For this reason I think she’d enjoy having a fenced yard.  She is doing very well on house training and we’ve only had a couple accidents in the 2 weeks we’ve been fostering her. She could have a few accidents at your house in the beginning while she adjusts to your schedule. She knows how to use our dog door. Speaking of other dogs…she does very well with all the dogs at our house. She loves to run and play with them and they all have fun with the toys. But when she is all cuddled up next to us getting some loving she does not like the other dogs coming up and butting in and she lets them know about it. She will run them off.

She enjoys taking walks and as with most beagles her nose is on the ground the whole time. If she gets on the trail of a critter hang on tight. I crate her at night in my bedroom by my bed and she sleeps all night without a peep. I never crate her in the day time as I feel all day and all night is just too much for any dog. She has done well in the day time while we are at work. Sometimes when I’m home and go to look for her she is in her crate with the door open taking a nap. She also rides well in a car.

Please contact Midwest BREW today so find out how to adopt Emmy Lou.
