Karen Kaminsky: Sometimes, there is that special beagle face that just speaks to you. She has it. God bless her and the people who care for her. Kathryn Block: You have captivating eyes, Marta. Feel better soon! Karin Beil. Jodie Straughn: Marta you have stolen my heart ! I pray that you will find your furever home soon. I would love to call you my own.

Marta is a little lemon beagle, 9 years old and 19 pounds.  She has a curious, nosy and affectionate personality and is really a lot of fun. She is a "Velcro Beagle" who loves to be petted. Marta is looking for a home with a fenced yard, an easygoing dog companion and a family who is home most of the time.

Marta loves stuffed squeaky toys. All day long, she totes her stuffed bunny around and keeps track of where he is. She loves it if you throw him so she can pounce on him like a cat and will play fetch when it suits her. She may look delicate but she is surprisingly strong and active for her age and gets excited for her one or two good walks a day.  She has a loud "Aroo" and tends to pull on the leash and howl during a walk. The pulling is manageable due to her small size but it would be great to find a home who is willing to work with her on it since she really enjoys her walks.

It seems like Marta had a rough time in her past and sometimes she gets a little anxious or concerned about things and needs some extra TLC and reassurance. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is a sensitive little soul. She has a lot of love to give.

Marta can climb over baby gates if she puts her mind to it. She will reluctantly accept being crated, and she strongly dislikes being left alone but tolerates it better if a dog friend is with her. She enjoys curling up with another beagle for a nap and will romp and play with her friends, but she can be bossy once in a while so she would not be best paired with an alpha dog. She howls at squirrels in the yard, passersby she sees out the window and barks at suspicious noises so she is not a good fit for apartment living. She enjoys going for a car ride and will jump right in.

To recap, Marta is looking for a home with the following requirements:

  • A securely fenced yard that cannot be dug under or jumped over is required. She will test any fence thoroughly. An invisible fence would not be a good fit for her.
  • Minimal alone time is required due to separation anxiety.
  • An easygoing dog friend who is compatible with an alpha dog
  • Humans with time and energy to invest in a close relationship
  • No small children; their movements make her nervous. Older kids are ok.

Marta is precious and lovable, and she will keep you laughing and delight anyone who loves beagles and their quirky ways.
