Are you looking for a dog with lots of energy and a great personality? Well, Lulu might be just the right pup for you. As of this writing, she is only about 3 months old. She is a beagle mix, and will likely be taller than your average beagle as she does have somewhat longer legs. At this point she is a typical, bouncing off the walls, get into everything, high octane puppy dog, but as she grows up I'm sure she will settle into being just a very active and friendly companion.

Right now she isn't doing very much snuggling, except late at night when she finally gets tired out. She steals shoes, chews on everything, and tries to get our older dogs to play with her. They do put her in her place, but she does antagonize our younger, more submissive dog by constantly wanting to wrestle with her.

Lulu is doing great on a leash, and very well with housebreaking. She isn't going to the door to wait yet, but does go potty outside when we take her out for a break. She will need to be monitored while indoors for a while yet though. She would love a fenced-in yard, but we use tie outs, and that should be fine too. She travels very well in a car, has no food aggression, and is a friendy and enthusiastic patient at the vet's office.

Lulu is crate trained and sleeps all night just fine. She does sometimes object to being put in her crate during the day and will bark and whine quite loudly. She is loud when she wants to come out in the morning too, so for this reason we don't believe she would do well in a condo or apartment. She is a very friendly little girl, and does like to play with our 13 year old grand daughter. She has very sharp baby teeth though, and as she uses her mouth a lot during play, would likely nip a small child. For this reason we feel she would be best with older, more respectful kids.

Lulu is going to change a lot over the next year or so, but as she is very high energy, she is likely to be a high energy adult as well. Lulu will need a firm, but gentle hand to guide her, and she will return that kindness with doggie kisses and a lifetime of loyalty.

NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements; and for families with very small children, puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets and hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
