Spartacus is a textbook beagle. He is about 2-3 years old and medium energy. He has a sweet and loving personality, he loves to play, he loves food, and he loves to sniff!

“Sparty” is quite the athlete when it comes to catching the tennis ball. Sparty is a big-time cuddler, too. He’ll want to be on your lap, in your bed, and in the car with you wherever you go. When needed, he will go in his crate and he may bark for a few minutes but he eventually lies down and goes to sleep. He is very well behaved and because of that he has earned the right to not be crated when I leave for short periods of time.

He has a fully functional beagle nose so he’s constantly on the hunt all over outside. He will need to have a fenced in yard or be leashed at all times. He is also working on his training which include the “sit“ and “stay” commands so far. True to his breed he is food motivated which makes him a fast learner (and also a food thief at any given opportunity!)

He gets a little noisy when he sees other dogs, but when he gets to sniff them and meet them then everything is fine. His other favorite activities include eating, sleeping, cuddles, barking at squirrels, eating, sleeping, cuddles, barking at squirrels, tennis ball, eating, and sleeping.

At some point in his life, Sparty suffered an injury to his tail. It had gotten pulled hard enough that it damaged the nerves that control his tail, rear end, and bladder. He has been seen by several vets, and he was recently examined by a dog neurologist who confirmed that Sparty will have incontinence for the rest of his life. This will require a special family that is equipped and willing to love him with his condition. Fortunately, there are techniques that help him minimize the number of accidents, but he will need to wear a doggy diaper when he’s inside. Due to this, he knows which furniture he is and is not allowed to be on.

Everyone who has met him has fallen in love with him. If you feel you are the right family and could welcome him into your home, please ask about Spartacus! He’ll make your family grow by four feet!
